Thoughts on the Afterlife

Came across an article about a woman who has "died" three times and experienced the afterlife.  What was interesting is that her interpretation of that post-death experience matches very closely with my own personal revelations, both experientially and in coming into contact with others who have passed.

Fear of death - the fear of the destruction of our consciousness and ego - is normal and natural.  It is also false and unnecessary.  (Unless you are someone who has good reason to believe your punishment in the afterlife will be severe, in which case that fear should be your signal to change your ways.)  It is both a lie created by the ego to control our spirit and a lie perpetuated by society to collectively placate our individually oppressive ego patterns.

Those of us who have seen the truth about death know it is beautiful, sacred, peaceful and a natural part of life.  There is no end, only transitions and death is a transition into something transcendent.  And that "something transcendent" is already available to us in the living world.  The ego does not want us to know this, because that would render the ego useless, it would lay bare the truth, that the ego is weak, knows very little and is governed by base emotions like fear and anger.

As a society, we have collectively created a structure to defend our fragile egos in the face of infinite connection.  Our egos need us to believe their death will be the end of everything, not a step into pure freedom and true life experience. So our egos connect with other egos to create a self-sustaining architecture, all for the purpose of sustaining their illusion of control.

The Teal Flame does not recognize the egoic falsehoods, at the individual or social level.  It's all bullshit.  And just because a lot of people buy into that BS, doesn't make it any less false.  When the stories and fears are placed into the flame, they burn away to nothing, but the true person remains.

Your fear of death is an ego shadow.  Embracing the impermanence is a recognition of the essence of life, which has no beginning or end.  Life is not some chemical reaction or some spontaneous event, it is a universal experience that exists beyond space and time and can manifest in the physical world, but is not limited to that manifestation.

We are an expression of this universal force, this experience.  Call it God or Source, it doesn't matter because it doesn't have a name.  We are here on Earth as a temporal expression of the divine, and we will continue as such after our death.  And it is this temporal, cyclical energetic experience that makes life on Earth so beautiful.  It is fragile, it is only here for a short time before returning to the infinite.  And it will return and bring forth new life.

Fearing death is fearing the essence of the divine experience.  Seeking to forestall death through weird artificial means is ungodly.  It misses the point of life entirely.  Our bodies are finite, our lives are not.  In the finite there is beauty.  The mystery of what is beyond is not a mystery - when we can feel past our physical experience and feel into what is beyond our physical bodies, emotions and thoughts, that is the infinite that resides inside us and what we will experience when our physical bodies pass away.

Making Friends with Death and My Soul Purpose

Little things can set big changes into motion.  They can also provide great clarity.
My mind was pretty clouded recently.  I went on a nice mini-vacation, which cleared things up a lot.  Then I had my wake up call.

A little thing, a small piece of candy in fact, blocked my windpipe.  For a moment, I was choking – like can’t breathe at all choking.  Amidst the surge of adrenaline there was a realization that I could really die.
And that was my spiritual alarm going off.  In that moment, my mind went completely clear.  I connected with my soul and faced death.  I’ve had a couple other close calls and it was the same feeling.  Death doesn’t scare me – what’s on the other side is okay.  But I also got clear about my greater purpose in life – I didn’t want to die, I wanted to fulfill my greater purpose.  I wanted to take care of my family and fulfil my larger purpose.

A moment later, I hacked out the candy.  It was an interesting feeling – I faced my mortality and I knew the whole time I wasn’t going to die then.  The whole experience was less than a minute and boom – total clarity (though I believe the time in nature set up this moment).
Later I spent some time meditating and accessing that essence.  I noticed my face looked much different.  The anxiety and chatter was gone.  All the things that seemed so important were meaningless.

It’s hard to hold on to fear when one knows death – the “worst thing that can happen” – is okay.  Death is natural and the transition over is very pleasant.  When it’s finally time for me, I’ll go willingly, but it’s not my time – I have a lot of things left to do and people who need me.
Connecting with that reality really clarifies things.  Most of the things we all worry about are meaningless BS just there to distract us.  Money worries, job worries, petty conflicts, even a lot of health concerns are all nonsense. The irony is all these worries actually get in the way of our ability to realize our human potential.  Worrying about money keeps money away; worrying about health actually saps our vitality.  My moment of clarity brought forth a surge of energy, and then I slept really well.

I also realized the obsession with “saving for retirement” is utter baloney.  There is no such thing as retirement.  I work in large part to create the resources to support my family and to build a financial foundation to allow me to further my greater mission once my family obligations come to an end.  After that, I don’t “retire,” I repurpose.
A life of leisure, which most people think of when they think of “retirement,” is not living.  It’s a life of distraction.  Yes, certain comforts and pleasures are nice, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  But that’s not a purpose.  Given what I’m doing now, I’ll have more than enough resources to live my purpose and be comfortable enough to enjoy myself while I’m doing it.  That’s all I need.

I’m clear on where I need to be in order to fulfill my purpose – close to nature, connected to the cycle of life.  Let all the other stuff go, follow my heart, which leads me to my purpose.  Family, love, freedom, life, happiness.

Death Meditation

One does not need to know Thai to receive the power of this video.  It is not easy but I highly recommend this as a death meditation resource.

An essential foundational aspect of this work is understanding and connecting with death.  Here is my guided meditation to accompany this resource:

Ground yourself and come to a place of relaxation.  Connect to the earth.  Bring awareness to your feet and the orange spirals on the soles of your feet.  Connect those spirals to the center of the earth and notice that solid, grounding energy.

Begin watching the video.  Bring grounding elements such as grounding stones (shungite, jasper, obsidian, granite, etc.)  Connect the energy to your body.  Reflect on how you are aging, how everything around you is growing, aging and eventually dies.  Think about those you know and love who have passed from this earth and hold those memories close.

Begin to forward to the point before you pass from this world, your inevitable physical death.  Stand and the precipice and notice how you feel.  Scared?  Regretful?  Peaceful?

Now draw your energy up through your body into your crown chakra at the top of your head.  Envision in your mind's eye a tunnel in front of you and walk through the tunnel as your physical body dies.  Notice how you feel.

Notice the feelings as you pass through the tunnel, personalities and memories from your present living self disappearing, regenerating into something new as you pass through the tunnel.

When you feel yourself on the other side, notice how you feel.  What feelings and insights arise?

Look back through the tunnel at your past life and notice what feelings and insights arise.

Slowly return to your present place in time and use the remainder of the time on the video to align and integrate your insights.

After the video is finished, close your eyes and ask your higher self what is the next step.  Listen for the answer.

This is not an easy process.  One should undertake this meditation with enough time and energy to process the often traumatic awakenings that can occur.

For me, this meditation brings up insights on several levels.  As I'm aging, I feel regret for the time passing and sadness for those who have passed, and desiring stronger connection.  I feel regret for the suffering I have caused and a desire to create more power and happiness in the world.

As I reach the precipice I feel peace, regret and concern for those I'm leaving behind.  As I pass through the tunnel I feel a washing and a return to self.  At the end I feel renewed and look back at my life from an outside perspective.  Here I feel peace and a sense of a life well-lived.

I come away feeling more committed to my path and loving the people in my life, but also a sense of calm.  Everything is okay and, in the end, I'm living a good life that pleases the universe.  This further inspires me to continue making a difference in the world.

With Love,

Uthaithani
