The Non-Linear Path to Awakening

For those who have followed me a long time in my various incarnations you’ll be familiar with my belief in the nonlinear spiritual path.  I’ve finished reading a very powerful article by Etienne Charland which covers this path from a very high-level.
I realize Etienne is speaking from a level that is difficult for many to accept - much less receive, process and integrate.  There are some who will be inclined to reject the truth of the message because of the style and standpoint of the writer, and that’s unfortunate.
It’s easy to categorize things for which we cannot find an easy reference point as “crazy” or even “dangerous.”  To which I ask, “what particularly about this is crazy or dangerous?”  Listen for the answer, because this will speak to the heart of the linear paradigm.
Some will react to his channeling – this is science fiction/ Scientology/ cult-like thinking and delusional and dangerous. Some will argue the message doesn’t work, that people should engage in growth from a step-by-step proven academic standpoint.
So let’s hold these questions up to reality.  The message – connecting to a higher non-linear consciousness, expanded freedom, living your true purpose – is this really crazy?  Considering every genius and transformative influence in the world has lived out this message, reality says this is not crazy-talk but a higher-level path to massive transformation and spiritual awakening.
Cult?  Really?  What cult tells people NOT to follow leaders and find their own truth?  To test things out for themselves and insist on real progress in the real world?  So if you drink this Kool-Aid you begin thinking for yourself and living a bigger life instead of being a sheep? I’ll drink to that!
What about the linear vs non-linear argument?  Here again we need to look at reality. There are many people living with their heads in the clouds, getting nowhere.  But is escaping into fantasy non-linear connection, or simply linear disconnection?  Let’s look at reality for the truth.
Most people travel a very predictable path – they either work step by step and build their lives, or they relax into comfort.  Those who lack comfort and can’t make progress generally escape – drugs, sex, TV, Internet, fantasy, mindless pursuits, even political and/or religious extremism – to forget about how they aren’t succeeding at mastering the steps.
Most “self-help” focuses on helping people get back on the ladder and climb faster.  NLP is almost entirely about getting people back in line.  And for some, this works – they get out of their funk and climb the ladder, finding some success and feeling good instead of wasting their lives.
But this is all one paradigm, the linear paradigm that values logic and ego. What about the geniuses, those who achieve massive success and change the world?  None of them progresses linearly – they all approach things from a completely different way and change the world.  They’re tapping in to an entirely different energy.
Some want to believe these people are uniquely gifted, as if their success was specially anointed by God or some divine lottery. By thinking this, people can feel good about their linear path, instead of dealing with the nagging voice inside telling them they can live bigger.
Accepting the non-linear path can be traumatic and challenging.  But it also opens up a life of untold possibilities and power.  Those on this path are not content to look in amazement at the innovators and leaders, they are moving toward their own genius.
There is power and wisdom in the universe far beyond the confines of the logical mind.  The logical mind was meant to be a faithful assistant, not the ruler of your life.  This is why everyone who is ruled by the ego lives in some state of anxiety – you’re putting too much pressure on your assistant while your higher self is sleeping on the couch.  Connecting to the higher wisdom and power resolves the lower-level anxieties and gives one a higher sense of purpose.
You may not believe your purpose is a “big deal,” but it is.  Every person has a divine purpose and gift for the universe.  If you’re living your purpose, life is abundant and generosity is natural.  If you’re on the linear path, life is scarce and selfishness is natural; you have to force yourself to be compassionate and generous.
So who is crazy in this scenario?  Who is on the “dangerous” path?  Which path naturally leads to freedom, peace, love and higher energy? Which leads to pain, suffering, oppression, greed, war and death?  Which path do you choose?
